Today I tested my new Sony SAL 28-75 mm 2.8 full-format standard zoom on the A99. But I went into the center of Berlin. The lighting conditions were not great, cloudy from cloudy to strong. But the images were from Aperture 3.2 "knackscharf" and had a very good contrast. Even with early pictures f 2.8 were minimal soft, both in WW and in telephoto range! I am absolutely thrilled. The feel also true, but of course not as good as the Zeiss 2.8 24-70 mm (price range). I also had the opportunity for a short time to test the Zeiss, but it is my opinion only marginally better (sharpness and contrast) and costs for more than twice. But for the Sony SAL 28-75 mm 2.8 weighs only half from Zeiss, prima when traveling etc.! The SAM-drive the SAL 28-75 is not so slowly and loudly as often written, I find here is whining at a high level. An economical alternative for my selection was the Tamron SP 24-70mm 2.8 USD, but this is also very good lens was my first, too big and heavy and it does not support the new AF-D mode ("depth maps AF" / Hybrid AF ) Sony A99, where an additional 100 AF points are used on the sensor for focusing the. It is rumored on the Internet again and again that the Sony SAL 28-75 mm 2.8 "identical" to the Tamron 28-75 2.8 is mmm. Also this lens I had to compare. I could very well find differences. The AF is louder and slower and the images are not quite as sharp and contrasty. The feel something "homespun", as Sony. Perhaps I had caught a "cucumber". All in all, I recommend the Sony SAL 28-75 mm 2.8 very, albeit Zeiss and Tamron have more WW!
