I discovered by chance Amber and I was delighted with my reading. This is the story of a young country girl who, seduced by a lord, will follow him to London. He will give up in this city for sea and Amber will have to use her charms to survive. Arm in arm, she reaches up to the king's bed, and will ennoble. But she would never forget Lord Carlton, which periodically returns to London but persists in refusing to marry him.
The novel is long but it almost read in one sitting. We pity Amber that can be content with what she has and look throughout the novel to be married by the man she loves. I will not reveal the end but for me it was unexpected.
