The action takes place in a world where war and Malkuth Kilmlaskia observe, recently, a precarious truce.
The player controls Luke Duke Fabre, parent of Sovereign Kilmlaskia.
Luke removed by the Malkuth empire when he was a toddler, was found by Vaan but since he lost the memory of his youth.
He lives cloistered at home with as only companions, his butler Guy, his fencing master Vaan and Natalia princess who comes from time to visit him and others to break his routine.
One day, while he is training with his master, his residence was attacked by a member of the Order of Lorelei, coming battle with Vaan. But the fight does not last long, Luke and Tress see their magical powers interacted and they find themselves teleported within the Malkuth empire.
Luke, arrogant kid, haughty, spoiled rotten-, will have to go home and find an outside world he does not know! He does not know what to expect ...
The script, if it does not sparkle with originality -sauver the world, it is the routine of rôliste- captivates its twists (not always credible, but who cares), the psychological complexity of the allies the hero and his opponents.
The world to visit is extensive, very broad: between mandatory and optional quests quests, the player will spend a good sixty hours in front of his screen.
However, the real strength of the game lies in its battle mode both intuitive (is assigned a directional key competence) and free (you can compose battles developed strategies).
Adaptation to 3DS this game is of high quality: the controls are intuitive, beautiful and numerous cutscenes and voice quality. The use of 3D, a little discreet, brings a real feeling of depth in the fighting.
I only have two real complaints:
- The game is entirely in English, animated scenes not included subtitled, which reserves the Anglophones as some details are complex to understand, especially the system very disconcerting magic prime first.
- This game, originally designed for a home console, sees the much reduced playground on the 3DS during frantic battles or in the dungeons, sometimes has trouble distinguishing certain details, though important, as they have become small.
But these reservations, Tales of the Abyss is an excellent game that will delight all fans of RPG of 3DS owners.
