Great continuation of the 3DS series!

As a big Nintendo fan who has already possessed all handheld versions, it was clear to me that even directly the new New Nintendo 3DS XL will move in with me. Nevertheless, one is never sure whether the switch worthwhile.

WHAT'S NEW? (+ Positive, +/- Neutal, - negative)

+ Improved 3D view: So far you had to always look at a certain angle on the 3DS to get the 3D effect. This has been significantly improved. A facial recognition, the 3DS to the user and adjusts the 3D effect is by far more stable. I've always turned off the 3D effect in the predecessor model, because it annoyed me to find the right position (and then was allowed to be quasi no longer move). The New Nintendo 3DS This is much better and I am glad now come back to 3D effects. However, was not the quality of the 3D effects ansich but has not been changed (a pity).

+ Great colors: Another striking change is the improved color of the display for me. The image ansich has become more powerful, more colorful. (It is, however, not become sharper, which is not personally bother me). The display of the New Nintendo 3DS was incidentally increased, the New Nintendo 3DS XL, the display size is unchanged (ie it is the same size as the previous model).

+ Better position of the volume control: Who does not know of the old 3DS version? You play for example without sound and comes to volume control (was previously left at the bottom near the Circle Pads) and suddenly the 3DS blaring out loud! These times should now be over, as the volume control is now mounted on the top (again on the left side), where you can not rankommt yes during active play. I like really good!

+ Improved Hardware: The New Nintendo 3DS is faster (better chip) and it shows, for example, in the games load faster and also the change between play and the home menu will take place without the previous annoying load times. In addition, of course, the improved hardware offers further potential for new games because I'm already on it taut. At the moment I'm The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D expire (so great !!).

+ New buttons: Who knows the Circle Pad Pro from the old 3DS, can look forward now that a new analog stick in the form of a small Knubbels been added to the New Nintendo 3DS (so far I can not say much about the application of sticks). There are also two new shoulder buttons, which for me (small woman hands) are a bit difficult to reach.

+/- MicroSD rather than SD card: While its predecessor had a SD card, can be found in the New Nintendo 3DS a MicroSD card. By default, a 4GB version included. This loose enough to store for Scores. Who likes to buy the eShop games, a larger memory card should buy right now. The change is likely to be even more difficult, as it on the back of a compartment must be opened with Phillips screwdriver.

What is not so good?

- Surface: I like the new glossy surface of the New Nintendo 3DS XL variants not so good. Then Fingertapper are inevitable very quickly. Too bad, especially for a handheld (which is so constantly kept in the hands) I would have liked a more user friendly interface.

- No colorful ABXY keys: Particularly I find it a pity that the ABXY keys are not made colorful with the XL variant (ie the letters are ansich color, but the key itself is not). The colorful buttons are just so typical Nintendo and great pity that we do not get in the XL variant.

- Hard to reach memory card: As already written above, you have to open the battery compartment by Philips screwdriver to get at the memory card. One should therefore make best right at the beginning, as a quick change between not easily feasible as before.

- No power supply included: I do not understand why Nintendo still packs no power supply in your handheld. As transfer passengers to the new system, I have of course been a power adapter at home. But just new buyers could here but be frustrated when they do not know / Consider Before!

WORTH THE CHANGE? Or I'd rather buy myself (in a complete new purchase) the new, or at least the old model?

Yes, the change to the new version is worth it! I like the New Nintendo 3DS XL really very good. He is a constant improvement of the old version. Especially great is the improvement of the viewing angle in 3D effects. In addition, one is the new version for new game developments prepared (and the old DS and 3DS games are playable on the new variant super!).

Certainly the new handheld is not a revolution but a thoughtful and very good development of the previous model. I think the change was worth it and I'm excited about the new system.
