This is a book to read for those who want to understand the consequences of Chernobyl human perspective and not from the point of view of numbers, measurements, dose rates and radiation. The author offers us without any rewriting, as such, evidence that it has gathered. These are the testimonies samosioli, the firefighter's wife, the liquidator, the senior officer, scientific ... All population groups are represented and all recount their experiences in detail, without hiding, without omitting. This is the reality. This is the human. And it is extremely hard to read. Reading is poignant, painful. But when we started, we would feel ashamed to stop. These men and women need to be heard, if not understood. This is the beginning of the duty to remember.
