The Mysteries of Paris (Paperback)

Customer Review

In the slums of Paris in the nineteenth century, a mysterious man saves a young prostitute shots of a robber. Sympathy arises immediately between the three characters. Thus begins a great story.

Characters Dumas, in a scenery to Zola. From the sublime to the despicable and the most beautiful residences in the most squalid shelters, Eugene Sue introduces us to the whole population of Paris and enter the most ignored corners of Paris. This book thus gives the opportunity to discover a time when Paris retreated to the countryside in Nanterre and where there were inns located below ground level with s cellars flooded regularly. Several s adventures intertwine in this novel, originally a newspaper serial. Theatre blows arise at the most unexpected times putting at its height a unbearable suspense.

Excellent novel, both for the tales for which he vividly shows us the time. The style is light and pleasant and strategies to keep the reader in suspense very effective. Granted, some turning situations seem somewhat boggling and "nice" become almost annoying force be virtuous, but that ultimately involved with the charm of the book. We sympathize with good heart for those unfortunate on which the lot (and villains!) S bent at an incredible point, and you find yourself anxiously expect the miracle that could, perhaps, take them out of this mess.
