First I read Houellebecq, I realize now that I could not miss such an author! He imagines here a triumphant Muslim party in the French presidential elections in 2022 and the consequences that would entail daily in a secular country like ours. He scrutinizes Islam and its main features, like a coarse cartoonist, as we perceive it, we Westerners broadly. It also is not that dissect this religion; Christianity and other Western values are singled out and deeply analyzed. The subject is certainly disturbing, as desired by the author, but remember, this is pure fiction, "a striking political and moral fable" and we are in a period which advocates more than ever freedom of expression. A story in the spotlight intriguing and offers a vintage style, bluntly. A great discovery.
