Doris Day is now 87 years and lived in retirement in California in Carmel-by-the-Sea. She avoids decades the public. Every now and then there are snapshots of her taking a walk with their dogs at the beach or shopping. All the more surprising is the "new" album. Sometimes there are digitally enhanced old recordings. Many recordings are "new". Only from exactly when these shots come about it is, unfortunately, nothing to learn. List see below. A driving force behind the shooting was probably Bruce Johnston - until now a member of the Beach Boys in 1966. His composition "Disney Girls" is one of the highlights of the album; published on the Beach Boys album "Surf's up" in the original 1971. Johnston and Day wanted to with the album obviously before Terry Melcher bow, which died in 2004, son of Doris Day. In the late 80s and 90s, he was largely responsible for recent Beach Boys successes. Comes from his pen, for example the # 1 hits Kokomo. The whole album pervades a sweet melancholy; it sounds like a stroll through Carmel. The place and the music have something timelessly beautiful; no concessions to modern Firlefranz. Nice to have such a quality today still finds its way into the CD store. As cover could have wonderfully used an image of a California Impressionists. 01 Hurry, It's Lovely Up Here (Alan Jay Lerner / Burton Lane) 02 Daydream (John Sebastian) 03 The Way I Dreamed It (Bruce Johnston / Terry Melcher) 04 Heaven Tonight (Bruce Johnston / Terry Melcher) 05 My One and Only Love (Robert Mellin / Guy Wood) 06 My Heart (Bruce Johnston / Terry Melcher) 07 You Are So Beautiful (Billy Preston / Bruce Fisher) 08 Life Is Just A Bowl of Cherries (Ray Henderson / Les Brown) 09 Disney Girls (Bruce Johnston) 10 My Buddy (Walter Donaldson / Gus Kahn) 11 Happy Endings (Bruce Johnston / Terry Melcher) (Sung by Terry Melcher with introduction spoken by Doris Day) 12 Ohio (Betty Comden / Adolph Green / Leonard Bernstein) Tracks 1-4, 6-7, 9, 11 previously unpublished Track 5 Doris Day and Andre Previn, Duet, Columbia CL-1752, 1962 Track 8 of The Love Album, 3104 Concord 1994 Track 10 from I'll See You In My Dreams, Columbia CL 6198 1951 Track 12 from Showtime, Columbia CL 1470, 1960
