Caveat: I was looking for a space-saving amplifier solution for the desktop. Should be powered by a pair of DIY speaker with Tang Band W3-315 in 8 ohms. The sound is very good, the volume control has - as well as the device, a very good feel and appearance. However, the device is very hot, about 60 degrees Celsius, this also without power output. From this viewpoint, it is not practical for me compliant. A Class-D amplifier, which converts about 80% of the absorbed energy in amplifier power and for idling !!! 50 Watt (guess ... not measured) emits as output per hour, is in my eyes a disguised infrared heating system! I am writing this because I - I found in a forum a similar case - by own research. My device is thus not an isolated case. This concept should therefore be reconsidered again.
