A little disappointed ... but it remains a good novel 1

Affected by a computer virus, dark Humanity in a brutal return to survival, encouraging communitarianism, the emergence of mystic / religious splinter groups, and social ghettoization. In this post-apocalyptic world, 3 destinies will cross (or rather join, since their encounter is not until the very end of the book), between survival and will to change the world.

I take the advantage of only comment this first volume but leave feedback for the following 2 (with links). I attacked this trilogy after reading the excellent Déchronologue I loved. Also, it is with great expectation on the quality of writing and the plot that I began my reading. And finally, I'm pretty disappointed. The comparison with the Déchronologue is not in favor of Chromozone!

If the writing style is still found sometimes I still feel like dealing with two different authors as the style changes. And no translation problem for once! By cons, 6 years gap between the two; should we see the mark of an emerging style that will assert itself over the works (everyone speaks well of Volume 2 ...) and whose benefit Dechronologue 6 years later?

As for the plot, she did not either transported. The idea of ​​a disorder that leads mankind to the brink of crisis and in an apocalyptic world is not new. Its transposition into the indefinite future, but which seems close indeed creates discomfort to consider such a possibility, but again, the style is in my opinion not served the cause. I had the feeling of reading an ordinary book SF (which is not an evil in itself, but I recall my expectations were bigger).

But since having read interviews Stéphane Beauverger on topics they wanted treated through this novel and reflection which is his having led to his writing, there were material to make it even more interesting frame. We may deplore the simplicity of the psychologies of the characters. And the few times a shadow zone appears, you do not give us the key (Tore regrets about the torture of his brother Gemini, the schyzophrénie of teitomo ...). The only character I liked is Justine, who is engaging in personal reflections all borrowed a style all its own and which contrasts with the apparent 'virginalité' of his name!

This remains generally good SF novel, waiting to play the following volumes, what I will do anyway hoping to see the level progress; although I am aware that the writing style of Déchronologue remains apart, also because of the processed time and willingness to speak through a character with his own style.
