LG has for me in brand awareness rather a nondescript image, it is in the US but as a premium brand. So I was immediately surprised when I held the Sound Plate in his hands. Because that is difficult and has due to the solid processing excellent tactile feel. The box is made of metal and not plastic as in the Bose, and therefore probably tolerate more weight and is suitable for TVs up to 55 inches. The design is understated, classic and elegant, and very, very shallow. This is not a SoundBar, a special plate, as the name suggests. Mir gefällts very good!
Noteworthy is the very nice, though a bit light, remote control. It is discreetly sold in aluminum, holds no unnecessary buttons before, is simple, so watch.
However, to place under the TV you already need two people to connect virtually no technical sense. Thus, the optical with included cable is laid quickly between Sound Plate and TV. So not fret because accessories missing, but simply completely carefree. Alternatively, there are for older semesters still an analog connection and LG SoundLink via radio. Lack LG TV I could not test letztres.
Also back is the Auto On / Off switch. If this is turned on, the Sound Plate automatically turned on when the TV is turned off, the Sound Plate is automatically turned off. The Bose can not and Philips only the house with other Philips EasyLink devices.
Very encouraging is also the sound of LG. The centers are clean, the bass fed without drone, overall a very full round sound with no noise to be like the Philips or the Bose pale to be in talks. Here you can tell the difference in sound even in normal TV. A scheduled sounds in Cinema mode very crowded, the runners during speed skating very fine and sitcoms are Lacher and dialogues clear ausdifferneziert and warm.
For normal television the normal mode, for feature films ranges should be the Cinema mode, it then. Virtual Surround Sound is not to comparators with true surround sound, but the feeling of surround sound is very impressive. This applies to both silent, as well as loud sequences where it crashes times well. Even if the volume is sometimes ratcheted rattles and roars the plant only at the very top end. And that is so loud that I not doing to me and the neighbors anyway.
Mostly there is criticism that setting options for sound and diverse connections such as HDMI are missing. That does not bother me: I stream music via Apple TV (3rd generation, 1080p) schwarzund in iTunes is an equalizer each preset, the same applies if I shoot it via Bluetooth from my iPhone music. More connections as optically I do not need, but works.
Negative strikes me as Philips Ambilight supporter, if at all, only the rear CaseDesign on. The power plug behind consumed a few centimeters, so that an almost immediate placement on the wall is not possible. Furthermore, the rear edge is rounded, so that the TV in the last few centimeters can not be put to the Sound Plate. Both together means that the TV is a bit far away from the wall and the Ambilight effect is only just possible yet.
All in all I'm very excited about the quality of the LG Sound Plate and no longer want to miss it. The fuller sound unlike the Bose Solo and the Philips HTL 5120 has totally convinced me.
