The singles were what was concerned but also very promising. "6'7 '", "John", "She Will" - all boards. But that all of these could ascend no big thematic variety, made "How To Love" up for it in some way. Although the story is not exactly untouched in this song, but she is from Wayne just cool and most importantly - thank goodness - sung without Auto-Tune. Coupled with the extremely successful, for Wayne quite unusual instrumental, but it will - at least for many - an absolute hit.
In general, the production is the great strength of this album. The beats are all strong. Except for "Nightmares Of The Bottom", which unfortunately is totally lame, and the song could be really good. For "How To Hate" this is not true. This piece is just not good. T-Pain annoying animal and also the beat so will not ignite times.
But otherwise everything is very well audible. But quite quickly fall somewhat on - Wayne missing on "Interlude" and "Outro". Both of these songs use the same instrumental as the intro. But say that other rappers who rap on it. And unfortunately make up to Shyne, whose part totally goes in the pants - terrible, you can not listen to - all a better figure than the householder to "Intro". Especially Tech N9ne stands here and makes "Interlude" together with a superb Andre 3000 in my opinion, the best song on the album. Without Wayne - seriously ?!
This irony is however mainly based on that Lil 'Wayne Although much better could (which was also quite already the case), but that does not easily do. Many of the other songs are not only thematically weak, but also convince lyrically. "You faker than some titties, you get f-cked tittie" - Oh dear! But that runs through nearly all the album's! And then there's always the same, monotonous flow, we have now also heard a million times. Thereby exciting the not. When one hears again purely in the predecessor there, you realize that Wayne but certainly can sound really hungry and motivated. Here is really only "6'7 '" and "Abortion" the case.
And since then is the great problem of the album only really to: Wayne could make a really good album. Would, could, should. But success comes by now on their own. The sales figures are anyway. Once again, the album breaks sales records - which was to be expected otherwise? But since Weezy is now not even really have to make an effort, it can seem sometimes much ignored. For example, that his style on "Tha Carter III" was still new and cool. Meanwhile, it might be about time for something new. How about with a couple of interesting topics, "deepen" songs? Who wants to hear from the gentlemen something, should rely only on "Dear Anne (Stan Part 2)". A magnificent song that has ironically failed to's album because the verses were quite old, and Wayne has not "felt". But also the bonus track "Mirror" is good in the sense something.
This leaves an album, what would so much better have been. But at least it will then still quite solid. Because as I said - really awful is only one song. The rest you can hear actually already. But considering the hype surrounding these gentlemen it's a joke, what was on offer at depth, versatility and creativity. Here I celebrate him actually. But it is time to practice their style so slowly.
Now even my Favourites:
1. Interlude - Without Wayne. That speaks volumes somehow
2. 6'7 '- Strong beat, strong flow, strong Cory Gunz, good lines of Wayne.
3. How To Love - The best in my opinion, quiet song that Wayne has not ever made.
Note: Please buy the album you do not blindly just because you Wayne Mögt. Listen to it, reflects, it sounds again and so on. There are better people than him. Meanwhile that is unfortunately becoming increasingly clear ...
