This book is a gem, Michel Foucault decrypted centuries of criminal thinking and makes accessible complex developments by a clear style and striking examples.
The prison coincides with the advent of displinaire society, the royal power that tortured him the body to assert its authority replaces a softness of sentences, we now encloses the body to better reach the soul. Surveillance in manufacturing, order in the ranks of the army, ranking schoolchildren, birth of the social sciences with their camera cards, characters, classes to better understand and control men. Punishing never helped reduce crime, but to contain and fix hazardous groups ...
