CRUEL WORLD - starts with an oriental-style intro and invites in the ultraviolet sphere of Lana del Rey's new album. She sings a lifestyle full of contrasts and clearly suggests that the musical journey is extraordinary and exhilarating once already in the very first track. Cruel World but is not a highlight on "Ultraviolence".
From something different caliber is as the title track ULTRAVIOLENCE. With its breathy verses and the lofty chorus it is strongly reminiscent of the songs on "Born to die". However, this is not a bad thing, because this album and its expansion "Paradise Edition" was simply terrific. Only Lana del Rey can make it sound a song about violence so sweetly. Another unique feature is their speech Part.
In SHADES OF COOL it shows another facet of their voice and their true potential. The sounds, which are produced here remind me involuntarily to Disney fairy tale (a pity that their theme song was not allowed to "Maleficent" on the album. Who wonders how it sounds when Cinderella meets electric guitars, which should listen. But the answer can only be beautiful.
Also in BROOKLYN BABY Lana served reinforces the plucked instruments, but here is her voice in the foreground, which tells a touching story. They can almost imagine how she squats in an alternative artist apartment in NY and observed her boyfriend while making music.
WEST COAST was published in advance and is the first single. Here is a slightly more rock influence to be felt thanks to the electric guitars. This is supplemented with synthetic sounds and Lana's ethereal voice, what comes out is a catchy tune which varies between headache and favorite song potential. One thing is Lana creates it like never before to describe the multifaceted, ambivalent attitude to life in America within two consecutive songs.
SAD GIRL contrast, reminiscent of their older pieces and trumps with the cherished melancholy of bygone days. I imagine a little jazz and swing influences to hear what the song more Gatsby- and 20s feeling returns as "Young and Beautyful".
PRETTY WHEN YOU CRY is the most quietest, most restrained and sehnsüchtigste Album number. This song has lived alone from his text, which can sometimes break Lanas voice. Pure emotion.
MONEY POWER GLORY is generating for me because of his goosebumps choruses a highlight on "Ultraviolence". A wonderful catchy, probably could not be honest, but for their undisguised texts she has finally become too famous.
F **** D MY WAY UP TO THE TOP is the long title of a song which sounds as if an angel sung an urban erotic novel. What a sensational combination!
Another highlight for me Old money simply arranged with piano, strings and Lanas voice unfolds the song its true potential and meaningful text only gradually.
THE OTHER WOMAN could may have been so to hear in a movie of the 50s. It is simply amazing that feeling and what zeitgeist they can conjure up with her voice.
WEST COAST (RADIO MIX) is the somewhat more reduced version of the first single, it does not come quite as wild and therefore overloaded. However, I can not tell which version I like better the best of intentions.
BLACK BEAUTY circulated for some time before the Internet. The yearning text highlights Lana's beautiful voice in a unique way. Each metaphor is full of melancholy, you have to like. I love it!
Guns and Roses is a unique declaration of love for a style of music and a band that shines through their influence on "Ultraviolence" repeatedly. However, contrary to the title of this song comes from only without extravagant guitar elements and is one of the quieter songs of the album. Only towards the end one has "let play." Axl Rose Short
FLORIDA KILOS now covers even the sultry southern States from and this also reflects the slightly chewy kind of singing again. During the chorus reminded of a nursery rhyme. An interesting song, which unfolds its full potential only when repeated listening.
"Ultraviolence" is a work of art that stands on its own and make music any experiments in Lana del Rey's experimental nature to be. She has remained true to their style, they brought back the feel of yesteryear, seasoned it with a lot of melancholy, Guns and Roses added, sang inimitable life sentiment of many Americans.
It's hard to put into words, how and especially what Lana Del Rey sings. There is always plenty of room for interpretations and speculations. Easy Come hearing and to get a picture of this outstanding artist herself. ML
