A musical slap

Halcyon (CD)

Customer Review

This second album Ellie Goulding is a slap, not against a side "never heard" but by the incredible efficiency of melodies and the voice of Ellie, who combined are capable of transporting the listener far away and to move him deeply.

In particular, the emotion that emerges from titles like Hanging On, Figure 8 or My Blood is INTENSE. I find it downright difficult to describe in words such securities.

Not to mention the positive "Anything Could Happen" catchy "Only You" (which reminds me of some of Moby tracks), affecting the "Do not Say A Word" and "Halcyon" with its insistent "It's gonna be better "...

And what of "Explosions" and its powerful chorus, "Atlantis" with its haunting "Where did you go?" and the extreme lightness of the voice of Ellie on the verses, the moving and minimalist "I Know You Care" (soundtrack of Now Is Good), the feel good (one of the few tracks on the album to be part of this category) and highly electro "I Need Your Love" (collaboration with Calvin Harris)?

Well actually, all titles are very effective, the only one who does not talk to me that it is "Dead In The Water" and it does not mean it is bad.
The whole album is great and have so many pearls gathered on the same opus falls under extraordinary. The music track is relatively simple, focused on the piano, a little violin and some electronic sounds, often accompanied by choirs, and certainly the album has a very dark side, but what force !! Great album.
