I read the Spanish edition of this pearl of Bonhoeffer. This is the first book I read of him, and of course this will not be the last. Bonhoeffer speaks of the depth of Christian commitment, "prices of grace" and the price to be paid by those who want to follow Christ to the end. This book would probably be more than a book in the field of theology if Bonhoeffer had remained in the United States, countries where he was as a teacher in 1939. But he returned to Germany, resisted against Nazism died for his convictions, and this gives it the authority to talk about the price to pay when claiming disciple of Christ. Faced with a book like this, you feel very small.
