Eternal War (Limited Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

It was probably one of the first larger bombs that burst in the metal scene in this calendar year: Angela Gossow is the microphone with Arch Enemy from. For fans and observers of this step was sudden and unexpected, internally the matter could, however, have signed a little earlier under certain circumstances - at least let certain statements on the part of gang leader Michael Amott in recent interviews this conclusion. Anyway: The king is dead, long live the King.

Or rather the Queen. While Angela Gossow, the highly acclaimed and respected German flagship of Swedish melodic death metallers, now so its entire focus on the management of the band sets (this office had already held and active time), it has several months ago Alissa White-Gluz at their former band The Agonist can loseisen that could go unnoticed to sing "War Eternal" so completely. The fact that the message only after completion made the rounds is good because you could so work in peace, can the expectations but not less. Moreover, precisely the song a sensitive position in the band structure, miscast here can afford very few bands, and even fewer get the chance to be able to clear up a mistake again before they have disappeared from the general consciousness. All unplaced eggs for Arch Enemy, because the change in the singing should be seen less as a break, but rather as the advent of a third era of their own history. Quasi the "Mark III 'duty, according to the brittle early stage with Johan Liiva, respectively the big breakthrough and successful years with Mrs. Gossow. The new one is now at the same time the chick in the barn, but nevertheless already equipped with end 20 with a lot of stage experience, but above all blessed with vocal abilities, the very good standing "War Eternal" to face and all about troubled fans reassured about the future of her favorites lets look. The phrase of the rejuvenation that is willingly at pains to such drastic changes, also in the case of Arch Enemy absolutely justified because the melodic death metallers sound at its ninth plate fresh and focused than last, it seems as if it wanted all on this disc do particularly well. Exactly they create in fact also, luckily contrived or forced without appearing. Instead, it sets horny Hooks ("You Will Know My Name"), sublime riffs ("Avalanche") and splendid melodies ("War Eternal") abound, plus some nice keyboard carpets, while the artwork with the "Bloodbath" - fencepost beckons and you traditionally completely without any clean vocals. Vocally drowned "Eternal War" course but unlike the imposing Angela-Back Catalogue: less guttural, not quite as old school, but much more modern. Ten years age difference must finally someplace left their mark. Both front women can be heard without a doubt, a look into the social networks also shows that both are blessed abundantly also in terms Fanverehrung. Choosing a favorite is like so often in life one thing: a matter of taste. About "Eternal War", however, there can be only one opinion: horny part!
