A novel of maybe having a second level?

After seeing the trailer of the movie, I thought, that seems a mix of Battle Royal, Running Man and death march of Stephen King to be. Teens fight in an arena under constant media coverage, until only one survived.
My surprise was great when I realized that the plot is based on a YA. The sound interesting and I have worried me the book the same.

The first 250 pages I have not put the book down. Katniss Everdeen describes their struggle for survival.
Unfortunately Then (SPOILER WARNING) introduced that in the game may survive two people, if they come from a district. The rest of the course of history now focuses on a love story. And the suspense was for me almost to zero.
Thank God, I have read to the end.

Why thank God?
I wondered when the last 100 pages, what distinguishes 'The Hunger Games' of the works mentioned above?
In Battle Royal describes how a class is transported to an island and just or not they read that together survive in battle, the island also allowed to leave again. Everything that happens on the island, will be televised. Battle Royal lives from the fact that the protagonists change, they are unpredictable. They wrestle with it, have to be killed and kill fear fearing their best friends- even if they have never done them anything.

In Death March: 100 young people take part in a march through the country. It must be run until only one survived. Again, everything is televised. For me this is the supporting topic that the protagonist really is not running against his opponents, but against himself. The reader the main character and their actions reveals itself more and more.

In Running Man, we criticized the media culture and what might become of her. Gladiatorial games of the future.

Now what makes this novel? What he wants to tell us? On the surface, probably nothing. He must, however, not even to entertain and he has to Page 250 very well.
Whoever likes love stories, which will be maintained and the next 100 pages.

In the final pages of the novel has become clear to me that Suzanne Collins but also puts us another approach to history.
Under constant media monitoring, Katniss must focus their actions on the audience;
This leads to confusion Love 'played love.
Likewise, they must carry out their trade under the assumption that Peeta also aligns its actions to the audience. This leads to constant subliminal question: Is his actions only played.

For me then would be the question that I draw from the book:
The extent to which our daily actions is influenced by the fact how we are perceived and want to be perceived.

I think that's a very good approach for a good story, which wants more than something to talk about. Unfortunately, the issue is not well drafted. It goes down in the length of the novel.

The question of whether a young adult novel violence must be emphasized so, I can only reply that all Indians Books (The Sons of Great Bear, Tecumse, Leatherstocking Tales, etc) that I read as a child and teenager, probably were just as violent.

The novel gets from me three stars:

Four to five stars, if he had not crashed on me on page 250.
Two stars, if he did not hide under the surface a little different.
