The score for the first blockbuster of the year composer Hans Zimmer provides usual heavy action blended foods. Who knows his "classical" scores such as "Crimson Tide," "The Rock" or "Backdraft", knows what to expect, and will - pleasing called compositions provided - not be disappointed by "Gladiator". In fact, while there are only two pure action-oriented tracks, "The Battle" and "Barbarian Horde", whose length but with each ten-minute but characterize the entire score. For lovers of the pieces are a true splendor, as they offer rousing rhythms in his usual intensity. From orchestral perspective, however, is likely to burst the eardrum so many Williams or Horner fan. Even with "Gladiator" to rooms must be open to the charge again, much to synth-heavy and thus deliver almost trashy electronic music. Fortunately, he is then still his great talent. From the soulful staged introduction about orchestral arranged songs like "To miliana" or "Patricide" to the experimental acting, but no less successful furious, "The Might of Rome" a broad and melodic wonderfully crafted range is offered to film music. Especially "The Might of Rome" reveals an incredible, almost crazy Arangement on native instruments paired with usual stimmigem Male Choir. Another plus: it is characterized not only the excellent often gloomy, embittered atmosphere and the temporal background of the film, but the pieces are also detached a single audio results. Part soulful strings and partly plucked guitar sounds, a total not innovative, but always a pleasure. The secret highlight of the CD, however, is the quiet, balancing music Lisa Gerrard. Her pieces - directed by their impressive but not obtrusive one voice - are the antithesis of the room hearty synth sounds, but harmony in the thematic sense wonderful and know both the melodies and by the wonderful sound convincing. The final trio "Elysium", "Honor Him" and "Now We Are Free" is to simpler musical beauty hard to beat and is definitely the best thing that has been released to movie music so far this year. A pearl for room fans so that is enhanced by the interspersed quiet piece Gerrards again. Only Score friends who never could abgewinnen what music room are to sweep "Gladiator" the back - but everyone else can access without hesitation: the score meets my taste as well as the film.
