The Scribe (Paperback)

Customer Review

Dark decisive manuscript story for the future of Christianity, cereal traffic on background "burning sickness", which is mixed a pretty young heroine, apprentice scribe, engaged in a fight to the feminization of the profession ... The adventures of Theresa, are part of the universe of a semi barbaric medieval role play, at the court of Charlemagne, in the heart of intrigues before his coronation. The whole arsenal of the adventure story is systematically exploited by Professor Antonio Garrido, who analysis the springs in an afterword a bit naive, celebrating "the entertainment player" as cardinal rule. Conspiracies, chases, fights, loves, betrayals one another without respite, in the cold of Alamanie of the late eighth century. We get lost a bit in scholarly considerations on the Donation of Constantine, but we question the way the mysterious nature of the monk Alcuin, philosopher, politician, technician of the crime scene and, for sure, inventor forensic science. If we add that the reader not ignore anything in the treatment of skin parchment, the handling of scramasax and crossbow or the beginnings of fluvial marine trade, we will assuredly an informative and distractive beach reading . But we will be careful to compare "The Scribe" to "L'oeuvre au noir" or "Name of the Rose", because if Antonio Garrido did not hesitate to copy his models, he certainly does not play in the same division.
