I was disappointed by this book. I expected something more readable, more alive. I found a scientific presentation, rigorous, downright cold, with some statistical tables sometimes rather provided. Certainly, there are lots of information on everything related construction in the medieval world (men, materials, construction sites, etc., but certainly not the world of work daily), however it remains written in a very scientific style. One may regret the lack of patterns to illustrate the descriptions (there, but not enough for readers who do not have the drawing board in the eye). I found still good economic question posed by scholars there decades: build cathedrals (which have no purpose other than the great prayer, which - strictly speaking - no use economic ) he has delayed development and market progress of medieval Europe? Although I have a very clear idea of how to respond, the author does not really develops the problem and does not respond either. New disappointment.
