Time Travelers & Bonfires (CD)

Customer Review

If we take the big sound of Sevendust, which turns the heavy guitars, distortion on the bass, and allowed Lajon Witherspoon sing all the songs, how does it feel?

As for me, it feels good!

Yet when Sevendust announced this album "Acoustic", I was skeptical.
Metal acoustic says like that, it seems to be an aberration!

Yet Sevendust brings us 6 new titles of great quality, plus 6 of their best tracks, reworked and re-recorded.
Certainly, we do not find the energy tracks like "Strong Arm Broken", as this "Time Travelers and Bonfires" consists mostly of walks.

Even so, its metal is not entirely lost, thanks to the drumming of Morgan Rose, always complex, and the power of the voice of Lajon Witherspoon.

The new songs are refreshing, and fun to hear "Denial" or "Trust" is still intact, as the group has managed the feat to mitigate the violence of his Sevendust while preserving impact.

I have always found that the strength of Sevendust also made his fault: it is a pool of talent, most of whom are multi-instrumentalists and good singers. So, is all of these talents come to a harmony, or it seems that everyone is trying to pull the cover and the piece is scuttled. But here, not one song will not leave that impression. Lajon ensures virtually single song (sometimes assisted by Clint Lowery, but more subtly as the Old ones albums, and you can even hear a few screams of Morgan Rose, discreet voice on this album).

Pity? I do not think so. Clint Lowery, Morgan Rose and John Connolly as are all good singers, and just lend an ear to their side-projects to realize.
But Lajon Witherspoon is here at the top of his game, mastering his voice as few singers know how to do all genres.
