I own this tablet for 6 weeks (purchased from the competitor with the Double-M).
Now on the tablet wave I swim for more than 3 years, my first was a HP Touchpad.
Until recently, I used the Acer A510, which also has nevertheless already built a Tegra-2 quad-core processor.
The Samsung TabPro is felt not one generation but rather 2-3 generations.
What I particularly noticed?
- The Weight!
Opposite the Acer I have now nearly 300 grams (!!) carry around less with me. For a tablet with the equipment the well 470 grams are simply a fantastic value.
- The Performance
There are indeed tolerable discussion whether Samsung Exynos 5 with a throw is successful or not. I consider this Octacore (right .. 8 cores!) But completely undervalued. The CPU performance is outstanding in all areas, which can also be seen on benchmark Antutu who charged me for my grade 3 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and for the TabPro almost identical and incredible 36,000 Antutus. These are peak values, the Acer A510 was so to the 14,000 and was certainly not slow tablet.
Similar to the (I-reviewed also note 3) the internal memory is also at TabPro remarkably fast. Here Samsung seems to build in very high quality chips. Copying, moving and installing on the TabPro is a real pleasure, because any file operation is done rapidly.
- Processing
Once I had to replace my first TabPro again (excessive gap dimensions at the right side) I am very pleased with my current copy. Everything fits perfectly, no wobbles at the transition from the screen to the frame or at the sockets. So you want it!
- The display
I have various Samsung already fears whether the Super Clear display convinced devices with Super AMOLED and had me well. And it does. Of course, the black level is not as good as the AMOLED technology. But the high resolution of 2560 * 1600 and the very good viewing angles coupled with a very good illumination conjure me and other viewers always a smile on your face. My daughter complains every time I purely zoome with the tablet in pictures of my camera and every adolescent pimples like a high mountain appear :-)
OK, what's on neutral but important points?
- The software
Android 4.4, it could hardly new. I personally have been dozens of Android devices rooted and provided with custom firmware. Here I previously saw no need to do so. There is quite a bit of bloatware on the tablet but installed by disabling this unnecessary software and partly possible complete uninstall the Tab comes already close to a clean Android ran. This point will be the face of ever greater memory equipment anyway increasingly uninteresting. So just disable unwanted software / uninstall and good.
The division of the settings menu in four tabs I like now getting better.
The Samsung own Launcher I replaced directly by the Nova Launcher Prime and have thus a high-performance and fully customizable system.
- The term of
There not much to say. The TabPro is not such a battery-monster like the Acer A510 but in any case in a position with good utilization of power saving options (off-line mode, the display timeout, Bluetooth / WLAN switching off when not in-Connect, etc.) 3-4 Normal daily use to survive. I think that in view of the performance offered completely OK., But this is a very subjective topic.
- The graphics performance
Here Samsung has done well with the choice of the ARM Mali-T628 MP6 any favors. The way I read it in testing this internal graphics unit does not fit quite the potent CPU. There are probably problems playing UHD video and the frame rates in graphics-hungry games are rather average.
Both issues do not concern me. I can not play my example Full HD videos from Sony camcorder easily and see in normal use no disadvantages.
- The Camera
Do what you want. Ordinary snapshots without major weaknesses.
And now the only real weak point
- The lack of HDMI output
I find it personally very weak by Samsung to spendieren such a device no digital video output. Such a tablet is actually predestined for the demonstration of videos / pictures on TV sets and that's what comes if at all, only with the use of the micro-USB port and a MHL adapter (which I could not test) or wirelessly via AllShare (which but needs to be supported by the other side). Why Samsung a top unit denied such this standard video output will probably forever the mystery.
Da me but bothers this point strong and I can muster no sympathy for these austerity measures there is unfortunately not the full star number for this otherwise excellent tablet.
If this review has assisted in their decision, I would be happy with a click on "vote". Many Thanks!
