The Canon 10x30 IS is compared to other glasses a quantum leap, because who has once used as a glass with stability will never want to miss again. The stabilizer is so effective that you can read signs at long range even that you could never see with a normal glass. Compared to an old 10x50 glass the Canon 10x30 was even brighter! I dare say that to an unstabilized Premium glass as Zeiss / Steiner / Svaro etc. Never ranreicht at this stabilized image quality (of course ... only without a tripod in the "free" mode). What helps me the most expensive glass when a man blurred everything at the other end. In terms of stability / robustness (hunters, etc.) but I would revert to the expensive premium glasses ... the stabilization technique may be too sensitive. A lack of stability CAPS LOCK I do not miss the way, because even after pressing the button longer (smoothly) I can not get cramp in my fingers. With Caps Lock would probably continually empty the battery, or the optics would be more prone to falls etc.
My rating: +++ Image Stabilizer ++ 2 AA batteries (not exotic) ++ Very light and small ++ Very good grip, because rubberized ++ Operation smoothly but adequate "inhibiting" ++ Incl. Bag and good belt + Reasonable price
- No lens cap (s) - Okularkappen fall off easily - Bag handles well, but very soft - dangerous to stow in your backpack (I'm a fan of bags Hardcover)
A real tip for hikers, bird watching, etc., if one uses the glass gently.
