At the basic operating principle of a camera all these lifestyle Tinnef changes nothing:
The light has to get in there and have come out photos that are really useful.
And despite all the technical developments in the compact camera range but it looks mostly like that faint lenses are mounted in front of Mini-Sensörchen with 16MP and the shortcomings of such constructions are then covered with new trendy features that you have to have alleged. At some point you get tired because of it. And ends up with proper cameras such as the LX5.
. Fortunately this small fine range of so-called precious compacts growing again slightly and other mothers have beautiful daughters - but let's stick with the LX5:
In my opinion it is one of the roundest overall packages in this camera segment, simply because Panasonic has done precious little wrong here.
The combination of a bright lens and larger sensor / MP less ensures that long can be below the ISO. And that's what primarily. Can conjure up at ISO 800 or 1200 even Panasonic does not. But it makes a big difference if you can still by candlelight without flash photographed with ISO 400 or even 800 or have to go even higher.
Currently under low-light conditions the photos of LX5 therefore considerably better than in "normal" compact cameras.
An SLR like to make the (perhaps) better photos in direct ISO comparison, only we must not forget one thing:
The LX5 is shooting with ISO 400 while the SLR photographer with a faint kit lens already 800 snaps with ISO.
A comparison of these photos in 13x18 print is then - let's say at least "interesting ..."
And at the latest when you want to get capture the moment in moving images (what is supposed to happen sometimes ...) certainly falls me not hard if I want to take a SLR or the LX5 in the hand the election.
The individual criteria:
Housing:
With value and not too easy. One has to keep the feeling of a real camera in your hands. For the shirt pocket but this is certainly nothing more!
Lens:
Practical focal length 24-90mm. Who needs 300mm zoom is wrong here. Has a visible loss of edge sharpness even with my 24mm wide angle is not because there is certainly also manufacturing and for adjustment fluctuations.
Service:
Everything as it should. The LX5 can be personalized very large extent and has several independent custom locations for user settings - for me an important point.
Noise reduction in JPEG can be adjusted in several steps - unfortunately not self-evident elsewhere (Gelle -Olympus ...).
Multi-format sensor with true aspect ratio of 3: 2 and 16: 9 without trimming and focal lengths Loss !!!
Who but the picture quality of a normal compact camera is no longer sufficient and no SLR would be well served with the LX5.
Of course, a little criticism there also: The lens cap must be removed by hand (which is, however, in most competitors also see above) and the spare battery can be paid as Panasonic had royally.
Finally, even a brief comparison with the OlympusXZ1:
The Oly is made really nice and has the LX5 the focus ring forward. Photos in daylight are the Olympus iota worse than the LX5, the sharpness of the lens is top notch and even slightly better than the LX5.
In low light, however, produced my XZ1 unfortunately 80% Committee.
Nevertheless, the Olympus should not hastily removed from the list you!
Maybe I was just unlucky and my was an outlier downwards. Who will vary between these two models, which I can only guess: try making wise.
Last but not least: I'm not a fan of beer serious Abhandlungen- who looks specifications takes on the manufacturer sites ...
