Excellent album. D. Robillard is very prolific. He exercises his talent in two genres: jazz / swing bluesy (like "A swinging session with DR") or, more frequently, the blues, as here, or "Blue Palette". He often hussy his blues rhythm 'n' blues, a dash of swing, a touch of soul. We find very often long titles, with many guitar (not here). This CD is a little different. He paid tribute to its sources, its inspirers. But no reversal of arch-known titles! Not at all. Rather it unearths pearl unsung bluesmen. And it is divine. The slow blues, almost rock'n'roll boogie, something for everyone and above all a talent that erupts every note. Production is beautiful. Maybe a mixed sax a little too forward. We find the cd for cheap. Do not hesitate!
