The Naxos label had the good idea to publish thematic compilations by drawing in his vast catalog; here is a metronome mark, "largo", which serves as guiding principle. This is the slowest tempo that is indicated in music; Here, the pieces all fall within the selected period called "baroque" and you will hear Handel, Telemann, Bach (father and son), Corelli, Vivaldi in ever charming and calming works. Artists of Eastern countries are widely honored, as often with Naxos (especially the Capella Istropolitana, chamber orchestra of Bratislava); but their wise interpretation and policed in a miking very proper and not too reverberant, does justice to music that does not seek hurry. We can therefore appreciate the oboe in the largo of Xerses Handel, or especially in winter Four Seasons, interpreted as a largo, very slowly, and not as a presto that baroqueuses versions commit too often ... The program is rich, with 20 beaches and almost an hour and a quarter of music. The unity of style is matched by the variety of instruments. The ensemble, particularly soothing, form an excellent introduction to the music of that era; one might even avert the disc from its first use and conveniently make a lullabies record. It is a small disk unpretentious but very pleasant; in short, a great success.
