Instead, something must be said about the sound of this album. Hats off, SW! In contrast to 99.9% of all other productions of the master puts on high dynamics and perfectly blended sound even with digital publications value.
So already the CD version sounds great and leaves virtually nothing to be desired. In comparison, for example, the vinyl version, though - due to the medium itself - something measurable dynamic, yet by no means a quantum leap. You can hear the difference anyway, to be honest, hardly. The CD seems to me to provide a little more bass (= a matter of taste), but that's about it.
I would like to emphasize, however, the 5.1 version of the DVD (I have allowed myself out of curiosity and LP Ltd. Edition.): Here exceeds even the level of HCE "Grace For Drowning". This is true even if one the DTS material downmixes neutral for headset use to stereo (gimmick, I know ... ;-)). Interestingly, sounds HCE in this way even a bit clearer than the CD or 96/24 version is also included on the DVD.
Overall, you have to say but for all versions: I have seldom heard a perfectly comparable abgemischtes album. SW burns here a veritable explosion of dynamic and crystal clear sound from - brilliant in the purest sense of the word. A very nice example is eg "routine" - how Ninets lip closure during "P" at the end of the line. "... Helps me to sleep" may hear - when they breathe a right ear. As her voice then seems to float above the dark seething later, the raging including before finally collapses everything into itself - fantastic. As you can hear each element at any time and locate spatially, the clear delineation of the instruments even when there is loud and orchestral (eg in Ancestral) - fabulous. The real "hardware" assuming HCE offers an unforgettable listening experience.
Fun fact: SW has in a recent interview (in digital trends) talked about (bad) Mastering and about what consequences he has drawn from it: "[...] I dont have any of my work Mastered It goes straight from my mixes. flat transfers Onto the disc. [...] For at the stage now where the 100 percent confident did what I produce out of my studio is Exactly the way I want people to hear it. I actually bypass mastering completely Call now. "
The unadulterated result so - it should be 99.9% of the music industry even take an example. :-)
