The TG-810 was my first outdoor camera and surprised me (2011) with an incredibly good picture quality.
Shots in good light (outdoor) are unrivaled in this class.
Even otherwise, the TG-810 is a really good camera and up to something "fiddly" operation it makes no weaknesses.
I'm actually assumed that the TG-830 a little (at least a little) draufsetzt here.
Of course I also had the experience that many a manufacturer does not reach the quality of its predecessor with subsequent models.
Unfortunately, as in this case!
The TG-830 makes a good quality impression and is slightly larger than the TG-810th
From the feel of the TG-810 appears but definitely more robust and heavier.
In addition, the TG-830 has no integrated lens cover, for me also a weak point.
The operability is better when TG-830.
The display of the TG-830 has only half the resolution than the display of the TG-810 (460,000 pixels to 920,000 pixels).
The one notices immediately, because photos with lower quality appear on the display better than they are (in high-resolution camera displays is the best vice versa).
Also opening the waterproof protection cover requires at TG-830 more patience.
(SD card, battery and USB ports) Where in the TG-810 only 1 cap for opening was necessary have to be opened 2 cover (as required) in the TG-830.
But now to the most important point (for me at least), the image quality.
Here I am very disappointed with the TG-830!
In all areas, the TG-830 has a worse image quality than the TG-810th
The images are blurred and overall have less contrast.
I've done a lot of comparison photos and not had a single case where the TG-830 TG-810 was able to hold a candle.
Even from the higher resolution of the TG-830 (16 MP) for TG-810 (14 MP) one notices absolutely nothing!
The image quality of the TG-830 is now not really bad, someone who is no comparison (and experience) has will be perhaps very satisfied.
If one has but to compare the image quality is not acceptable (for me at least).
Conclusion:
As already mentioned, I am disappointed with the Olympus TG-830 Though.
Too bad, because I definitely expected more.
The picture quality is simply not good enough and because the rest of the camera also makes no joy.
From me there is no recommendation!
