A timeless classic of strategy games

Another game that I recently rediscovered. "Age of Empires 2" enjoys despite his age still great popularity and is a good reason! The game comes with interesting and numerous campaign levels (5 x 7 Level in the standard game without an extension), some of which have quite a demanding level of difficulty.
There is also the possibility of a random card game with various selectable victory conditions and terrain types. Of course, the graphics are a bit old-fashioned compared to today's games. But it is in harmoniously and in some campaign levels containing Eskortier tasks, really atmospheric. The control is not complicated and easy to learn.

Positives:

+ Gold Edition includes the "Conquerors" extension with five other campaigns and even more playable races. In addition, new scenery types for random map games.

Negatives:
- No Zoom Function
- No auto-sensing function for scouts, but was probably at that time still not a standard

Neutral:
x Outdated and pixelated graphics (the fog of war, so explored the dark veil over, but to date not revealed cards sections, gruesome looks pixelated!) which is, however, due to the age of the game and I do not want therefore classified as negative. Especially since she still allowed very atmospheric scenarios.

Conclusion: "Age of Empires 2" has set a benchmark for strategy games and still makes a lot of fun! The game is still in progress also on Windows 8.1 with no problems!
