I read a lot ... but it was a long time that a book had much impressed me. Questions from evil, beauty, art and literature are not put through a philosophical reflection but lived and felt through a particularly endearing character because it is not monolithic : Although gifted obviously virtuoso but also sometimes weak and fragile. The story may seem difficult because the characters, times and modes of enunciation vary and mingle BUT overall is very tightly organized and it really was there a "story" with a rise and fall. This book is admirable. But I think you have read it quickly not to lose sight of the unity of the story.
