More than a story, this novel rife with explanations of the traditional gestures and ceremonies is a quasi-documentary testimony of a Geisha, interspersed with his photographs: it's a true story, one of many examples of life that could lead these women that their social status had forced parents to sell them as sex slave. It is in this documentary aspect lies its interest, the story itself is also quite involved.
