Fallout 3 (computer game)

Customer Review

Fallout 3 is at first glance quite a milestone and creates atmosphere as did Oblivion beginning of the game. The similarities are hardly ignorable because dialogues and quests take place according to the same pattern.

It is set in a fictional world in which nuclear war in 2077 between China and the United States escalated. The culture hitherto has hardly evolved from the 50s and 60s, the broken car and Düsenjetwracks, the billboards, the food and the primitive computer lässen suggest. The name of the game here already shows the bitter reality in the game.
200 years later, ie in 2277, it is one of the few people in a secure vault houses (an underground bunker facility). The childhood we experience in several selected periods from babies to young adults. The game comes down to the fact that you leave the Vault under mysterious circumstances, and for the first time get to know the outside world. Here the game is so profound as well as detailed as any other:

- Decisions bring a good or bad karma, which affects the personal reputation and even talks
- Living in an "anarchy" with no real governance shows many different groups that differ from each other
- The struggle for survival, ie, for clean water and against radioactivity
- The social differences between rich and poor, government radio vs. Free Citizen Radio, Vault and the outside world
- Remnants of human civilization in the form of pre-war ruins and remnants
- Realistic effects of strong destruction + radioactivity
- Hitlocations the body, flexibility, precision and perception influence with injuries

All these factors give the player a feeling of being right in the middle, instead of just doing. You feel as a player really with the physical and emotional impact of an isolated home and the constant fear of death. It is sometimes difficult to believe that a society regressed almost to pre-Christian times, but are usually 1/3 of all opponents normal "evil" people. The own profit and mistrust keeps people not together, but split it even more than in times of peace.

The "monsters" and animals can also include ghouls, humans have been exposed to extreme radioactive radiations and look like decayed corpses. They speak with a sick very deep voice and the way society deals with them is quite different. The span reaches from ridicule, contempt and persecution to equality and compassion.
However, most of the monsters are just mutated animals that we know people from the 21st century. The game is at its normal level of difficulty never too difficult, yet also often a bit too easy. There are almost a way out of every situation that makes it routine!

Overall, I would recommend this game yet any today, especially if you have already occurred in enjoyment of Oblivion. The joy increases every time you recognize the game known elements, as well as the almost endless aha but also witnessed shocking moments. Rarely does a game to create this Atmophäre a post-Endkriegsszenario and yet one feels in this (as a player) very well. The addictive is very high in the first few hours.
