About Zip drives there is not much to say not today. About this one can only say, in which it differs from the older ZIP drives, with whom I have worked earlier: 1. The power supply via the USB port is a huge profit. Less clutter and easier stowing the device. 2. The equipment is significantly more compact than my old (SCSI) Zip drive. 3. The greater storage capacity is nice, but not really up to date. The decisive factor that I bought the ZIP 250 and no ZIP 750 drive, were two: firstly, the omission of a power supply (the ZIP750 need unfortunately a) and on the other hand the opportunity to describe my old ZIP 100 disks (the ZIP 750 100 MB disks can only read). 4. On the negative side is that the writing of the ZIP 100 disks lasts much longer than with the old ZIP 100 drive. Reading is no difference for noticing, and the ZIP 250 disks are as fast as before the 100-er. 5. The new drive makes a lot of noise more annoying than the old one, a squeaky whine. Not really disturbing, but not very personable. When implementing a ZIP 250 drive this device is still pretty much perfect. The fifth star I fail him, because the concept is a bit outdated. By today's standards, one would want more of a ZIP 750, which is also supplied via the USB port with power and can read and write the * all * types of ZIP disks.
