About windfalls and a generation that has everything and nothing: Froot on vinyl

In the popular music of today, there are in my view only a handful of artists who can really call it that. These are all those singers who not only have an expressive voice, but also still write their own texts for me. They have brand recognition and character.
The Briton Marina and the Diamonds has been one now for over five years to this sort of interpreters who always delivers music with heart and mind. For their third album Froot they cleverly combined the organic piano sounds of their debut The Family Jewels with the electrifying 80s synth sound of the Successor of Electra Heart. There are some pieces that you might directly assign an album. BLUE and SAVAGES cry because of their superficial keyboards for The Family Jewels, while the catchy electro-looking fireworks in the title track Froot clearly represents a reverberation of Electra Heart.
Marina and the musicians involved, it also create even to create real soundscapes. The playful keyboard loop in GOLD, seems like the setting of a sunset while admittedly unusual rock songs held FORGET and BETTER THAN THAT such products from a single electric guitar session work in an American-hour connection. FORGET also contains harmonic bonds of TEEN IDLE from ELECTRA HEART-album, which it gets pressed his Marina stamp.
The content of the songs are then, however, the decisive reason that Marina and the Diamonds is a number of its own. With her inimitable voice that conveys ambivalent emotional rollercoasters between angelic vulnerability and diabolical depravity, she sings the relationship end with all its positive and negative aspects (HAPPY, WEEDS) shares against a former girlfriend from (BETTER THAN THAT Rumoured allegedly at her colleague Ellie Goulding directed), once again mimics the restless "Homewrecker" (very sad: I'M A RUIN, very naughty: CAN NOT PIN ME DOWN) and compares the save for the right to the ripening of fruit crops (Froot with the beautiful Metaphor "I've been saving all my summers for you").
Of course, still far more serious issues are used to Froot and provide the kind of melancholy, for the Marina is known. Although it is striking that their handling of the American dream has been left out this time in her musical work, they processed their displeasure against the society of today in SAVAGES. Pregnant with meaning she sings about a generation that has everything and nothing ... and that has no significant threshold for violence. Although the piece only once seems a bit precocious, it comes as a small single concept on Froot on yet and is in my opinion, with its dramatic in equal proportions, as well as melodic keyboard hammering represents even the culmination of this work.
After SAVAGES the twelfth and final piece of IMMORTAL, further takes up the serious tone follows. Here Marina her own mortality is aware and closes the album on their typical colorful, moody way.

Marina and the Diamonds on vinyl is always something special. And not only because there are so few of her publications on the analog medium, for the die-hard fans like to once more three-digit pay bills (as happened for example with the US pressing of their debut The Family Jewels). Your music will sound on record quite simply another tick better.
The great strength at the Froot-LP is the sound representation of their depths. A variety of new songs Marinas has an impressive bass line that lacks on CD to heat and balance. Overdriving not come here fortunately expressed. The tactile bass in I'M A RUIN remain without distortion while IMMORTAL can score with his incisive depths. Another highlight Sound delivers SOLITAIRE, in which one might think that marinas floats distinctive voice above the melody. Who would have thought that the ubiquitous Loudness Wars still can bring about real sonic jewels, if you she enjoys only on vinyl?
And who would have thought that the sound can sound so clear in the face of the dyed material? The record of Froot Namely, as Marina had already announced on the social networks, in "diamond white" paint kept, meaning snow-white. How did their name suffix "... and the Diamonds" has always promised one hears only Top-class with her. The picture is completed by the good pressure which visually makes a clean and mainly flat impression that reveals no manufacturing defects.

Nevertheless, there is a drawback to report: The footprint of any lyrics and production notes as they were given in the two CD-editions in the normal jewel case edition and the limited edition cardboard cover, have unfortunately totally neglected for the vinyl version. The lyrics are essentially important for a singer-songwriter as Marina and the Diamonds and it is a pity that a replication of the analog version is missing.
But let us not be the case: vinyl lovers should be satisfied that Froot has ever appeared on the turntable. An LP version of its second plant ELECTRA HEART leaves namely to wait until today to be ...

Who has the predecessor The Family Jewels and Electra Heart of Marina and the Diamonds already learned to love, will be more than satisfied with Froot. The work forms a perfect symbiosis of their previous repertoire and expanded it by sound and substantive components. Froot has therefore certainly no music from the retort, but shows that Marina and the Diamonds with album number three delivers consistently good and fresh work. The plate can be completely traversed. There is no outlier, it acts as a unified whole, which is simply not boring.
Moreover Froot is a real highlight on vinyl, because the great tracks were mixed in an appropriate manner and convince with distortion-free depth. The download code makes the whole thing even to a price more than fair matter where you look like to the lyrics would have liked as a bonus ... nevertheless gets this far in my opinion best pop album in 2015 five full stars.
