I do not want to talk about it's contents, for it would spoiler The End of demon.
Freedom is as intelligently written as demon. It Expects a smart reader. When policemen or soldiers talk, there Is not Necessarily Present an idiot, asking all the questions, the reader asks himself might. Acronyms are Still Not Explained. The book aims for a technology-aware audience. Or at least someone who can use google. Anyway, the story does not depend on understanding every bit of military and techno-babble.
FREEDOM Continues to construct a world order after the crash of capitalism. Still it's a techno-action Basically novel with a philosophical message. As with The Matrix, You Should not think to much about it. You can examine two or three levels of consistent supporting background, but Afterthat it Becomes pure fiction vague. So it's quite nice to read, like The Matrix is nice to watch. The New Society DAEMON / FREEDOM advocates, looks only so Preferable Because it is styled this way. Just like communism reads so well and live performance so bad.
DAEMON what rather focused on computer issues. FREEDOM addresses more general problems, like loss of biodiversity, financial powers ruling or blackmailing Governments, but insane Generally Accepted Consequences of pure capitalism and too much power in few hands while keeping to its scientific information base.
After all DAEMON / FREEDOM are very cleverly composed, well written and researched seriously. In my opinion it's much more solidly researched than The Swarm (Frank Schätzing), Which got a lot of praise for its scientificness.
What was true for DAEMON is quiet true for Freedom. It has a lot of gore and brutality in it. But other than patriot novels like Those of Tom Clancy, the moral dilemma is always present Throughout the story. So it leaves the reader and the fictive characters many choices to make.
