At first I had "only" two lenses: The Sigma 17-70 C (2.8 at 17mm) and the Sigma 10-20 (4.0 at 10mm). The images were all super. The focus sat most 100%.
The end of October I got from the United States brought the EF 50mm 1.4 USM. Already at the first photos I was surprised that I had a "Unsharp-committee" of about 80 percent. At first I thought it was up to the lack of image stabilization, which could possibly be felt in fast shutter speeds even. Then I read on the internet that at such fast lenses 2.0 ordinary results can be expected only from Aperture. Instinctively, I asked myself, where is then the meaning should be behind fast lenses. I realize that the sensitivity increases at maximum aperture, but 80% Committee ??? I'm early 30s and tremble (still) not so much. With further research, I then impact on the here also often mentioned AF problem that matched 100% percent to me because I focus about 90% of the photos of the center AF point by viewfinder.
Armed with a tripod and cable release I started my tests. Result was that I (the EF 50mm 1.4 and the now-added Tamron SP 90mm 2.8) exactly have in my fast lenses the problems described here and in various forums: Middle AF point -> blurred, the same image using Live View -> Ultra -Scharf, other AF point -> better, but only the very outer come close to the edge of the Live View. This extends over all tested distances (2m, 4m and 6m). How can it be that a BE *** issener Live View AF - even if it is still as good - provides better results than the standard focusing method using the viewfinder? Why should fetch me a SLR I do if I can achieve really useful results only in Live View - at least when the iris of 1.4 - approximately 6.0 ???
The tips on fine-tuning the objectives I have also tried (with the 50 I have now already read a couple of times, we should make to +13) ... to no avail.
On most bitter, however, is that the - apparently many "isolated cases" - by Canon in the cold be left. There is no official statement from Canon, let alone viable solutions. Reminds me a little of the hushing of bluepulse of death from Sony at the PS4 (also in this case I was actually one of the "lucky"). This approach to obvious problems is indeed possibly a regional phenomenon.
I have the Cam anyway for repair ... let's see what comes back. Possibly is then adapted to the assessment.

Update1:
I uploaded a few pictures of illustration ... which, with the Hulk ;-)
Pictures are screenshots from Apple Aperture. If you can see here the focal points to be the active highlighted in red (unless there is only one possible candidate, so at LiveView "only" white marks). It is therefore not real pictures of the viewfinder and therefore not to focussing errors, the Canon also shows red. All images were of course (at least according to camera) correctly focused.

Update 2 after repair:
OK, the cam is back from the repair (via the retailer posted) ... lasted about a week. When picking up told me the nice service staff that Canon has stated that no error was noted. My first thought: "What ???" My second thought: "Stay cool, show it to the colleagues from the service but simply on a living example." I was asked as a motif made available a battery, a memory card, the Canon 1,8er and a prospectus of the dealer. We have made determined 20 photos according to my previous tests. Result: All (really all) pictures - whether through Live View or the middle or the other focal points were sharp!
My third thought: "goddamn demonstration effect!"
So I packed up the Cam and taken for further testing with home. What was not noticed at the store: all my menu settings were reset. Since the firmware version apparently is still the same, to come here in my opinion, only two options in question: either the Cam was just on the factory settings or (I think so) the firmware has been played new plan. A third option would be that it (experimental due to the error?) Is a is firmware whose version number was not set high - a rogue who thinks evil here ;-)
The first tests were carried out with the Tamron SP 90mm 2.8. Result: All Sharp. Incredible!
The second attempts, I then carried out with the EF 50mm 1.4, at the time the problems were most blatantly visible. Lo and behold, Mid focus point -> Focus - as usual - dead wrong; Live View -> as usual top!
BUT - and now it has been a mystery - in all other focus points was the same defocus available (here was that beforehand all spicy). "OK", I thought to myself. "Now you can again try out the tips on the AF fine adjustment in the action menu". Made, done ... All photos now come closer to the edge of the Live View. I could not believe it, have taken the afternoon off and I'm two hours pulled around to the cam in conjunction with the 50s "in reality" test. For all images made it behaved now the other way around; no 80 percent Committee, but 10 to max. 15% Committee (which I think or suspect that the problem here was more behind the camera for more than 200 images OK). Three sample images I've uploaded times (the landing seagull, the German Corner and the anchor chain).
Am now indeed very excited about the camera, but still can not give more than 3 stars because I firstly despite the current situation have a bad feeling and secondly still am not satisfied with the information policy of Canon ... I can not tell, that they have found no error on the Cam or have not done anything to it.
