Advantages:
+ Best Value for money
+ Many functions - radio for (almost) all cases
+ Excellent reception performance for Internet Radio
+ Good reception for FM
+ Simple operation, the kids love it
+ ISangean app is a nice gimmick to control the radio in the home network via the iPhone or Android.
+ From some criticized, praised by me: the opportunity to operate the unit with mono-D batteries. Are not cheap, but extremely durable. Also the increased weight I see very beneficial: it gives the device more stability.
Neutral:
0 of operation differ solved outside via the control dial on the right; intuitive for me would be the button for the volume, but you get used to it
0 to select the menu is not intuitive: clockwise is 'scroll up', turn to the left is 'scroll down'
0 no 'handle'
Disadvantages:
- The sound is significantly behind the sound volume Logitech Squeezebox Radio, which I also own. However, because the Sangean WFR-28C has so many functions, only one star deduction.
- No other
Those looking for all the functions for which there is a strong buy recommendation. (See update below!)
He who hears only FM who finds a better reception and playback performance with other models of Sangean.
UPDATE: after about 6 weeks failed to use the radio during battery operation. I use Ansmann 8,500 mA, brand new. Test way, mono-D battery packs were used, each filled with 2x AA batteries Eneloop; no difference.
The Sangean support recommended (in NL), reset the device to factory settings, no change. Now I have quickly and easily get a replacement device from Amazon.
Result: this has the same problem - it switches off automatically when battery operation immediately after switching on again. When utility power both devices are stable and running properly.
Can there be a series error, or am I doing something wrong?
I'll pick up after the holidays with Amazon contact to clarify the situation.
Meanwhile, the device is downgraded to a star. Very unfortunate.
PS: the replacement of Amazon was apparently no longer original new, but has already been tested once. Both devices support the production date "2014/07" (small silver label). - For valuable information about possible operating errors or mistakes series I would be very grateful at this point.
