I like Dylan much better when he sings songs in which he has a story to tell. In addition, I am not a big fan of American Christmas music, whether sung by Sinatra or Dean Martin or for that matter, of performers from the Gospel area. And enough rock musicians of Heavy Metal, punk mainstream, who began their inevitable Christmas album, there is in my opinion already. So now even Bob Dylan. The biggest drawback of such plates is for me simply the limited usability. I can just use only 1 of 12 months of this CD. I actually reaches the annual and tinkling bells that served me the format radio almost the complete December through. Granted Dylan does his job really not that bad and I do not think that this CD is now completely inaudible, as some are here. This circumstance has undoubtedly do for me also with the outstanding musicians of his band. And even if Dylan's voice really does not seem to be predestined for the singing of Christmas carols now, there are beyond the subjective sound experience some good reasons to own this CD:
- Who do a good work against poverty in the so-called industrialized world
want; access. The artist proceeds from this CD will in the US to Feed America
go in and out of the European sales to similar organizations
UK. They say, anyway.
- Who also Dylan unrestricted great place and unlike me no larger
Has problem with American Christmas music; also access
- The enclosed greeting cards deluxe edition I find quite funny, but
obviously too good to them also to use
So, dear people and relentless critics, take Christmas In The Heart like literally, Dylan take his excursion into unfamiliar realms not too bad, but be generous in the knowledge that Dylan would do so apparently really and mostly good. And the more I listen to this CD now (and will hear), I try to imagine how it might be received with Bob Dylan and his Band during the recording in the studio well. I believe and my to hear that there must have been great fun now. Speaking of fun:'m curious on the reactions when the first Sunday of Advent fly the Winter Children of Rolf Zukowski my kids out of the player and us instead Mr. Dylan echoes's version of Here Comes Santa Claus from the funds received speakers ...
For me not to vote for a Dylan album out of competition and in traditional categories. Unfortunately, one must still decide anyway and therefore I choose the golden mean.
