So this was from the outset to great "success pressure" - on the one hand due to the very strong first part, on the other, because I was the last relatively weak SAA book before, Lost Lake. To make it short: I was absolutely not disappoint. All the beautiful voice and word magic is there, the story is "around" a bit mysterious. Origin and heritage are the major themes of this book, and curse and a blessing, that they may pose.
And at 10 years have passed since the events of the country "Garden Spells". Bay is almost grown, Mariah already half come of age. Claire gave up her catering (!!!) and cook for a very successful magazine article about them now even more candy. Sidney is still waiting for a child for you and Henry. And Evanelle distributed still their oblique gifts.
A stranger comes to town, you quickly realize that it is a Con-Man, an impostor. But what he really has to do with the Waverley? Anyway, he manages to Claire's self-image completely on its head - who she is because, without their very specific origin? The end result is a very clear answer, but the path to it is quite painful. Meanwhile Bay has to contend with a very special relationship: the way they otherwise know where people and things belong, they know they some time that it is one of Josh Mattheson. Just stupid, that the Waverley and Mattheson, in particular Bays Mama Sidney and Josh 'Daddy, a somewhat difficult history connects.
I would even be very happy if the author would return at a later date once the Waverley. Until then, they daraf like to write only three to five other books - but what happens to the families henceforth, I would like to know ;-)
On Facebook they published occasional micro-short stories. They are never more than a few sentences, but still exude that special magic ...
