Adventure at its finest

The first as the second part has a very strong story and great atmosphere. The story has failed, implemented graphically opulent and produced in the head a world that has me as soon not let go. In retrospect, it reminds me more of a good book than a game.

Techisch and graphically both part these days to look even playable without running backward and certainly to no longer quite current hardware. The game (both parts of the technology almost identical) is 2,5-Dimensional, no real 3D engine, the environment is static but structurally is an illusion of 3-dimensionality created (the player character also runs in the depth of the picture into ). The controls are intuitive and simple, my friend who has never played adventure and with whom I played the game together, came right away well so clear.

The puzzles are easy to medium difficulty, together we were able to solve the game without a walkthrough. Much of the "Rästel" is more or less obvious Search Part X and sliding it in place Y. Some of these are difficult in that it is easy to overlook parts (the possibly of other games known "search the objects with the mouse "problem).

For all combination puzzles are logical, that none of them were muffled try. While some see after trying, but the corresponding information can be read by the objects found in the game or watch found in the dialogues, hence the sometimes long texts or dialogues are not only decorative but actually part of the game. Therefore than betray Tip without something: reading, listening and (what we like to forget, but in some places is absolutely necessary), if necessary, pick up the (game) phone.

However, the second part has some puzzles that unfortunately but degenerate into Pixelsucherei, and where actions can be found on the screen, I would not have suspected. Twice we had to pick up the walkthrough because I had simply overlooked things or options on the screen. Especially in places where you can do with the mouse obviously something and thinking you understand the mystery, but next to it less obviously can still click. I hope I will not tell too much when I say that actually taste the monastery and fishing, to fumble worth with your mouse in Flughzeugcockpit first (to activate); at the clock, I would without Walkthrough desperate, the puzzle we had solved about 95%, it has failed only on some really hardly understandable.

As with many Adventures Syberia pulls the season a little by a long ways in the length (find puzzles at point A, need part from far away point B, realize that then at A little further is missing, go back somewhere to B), which depending on your preference may be annoying, I liked it but quite (mostly) because the whole atmosphere and story has nothing to do with hectic, quite the opposite, Kate Walker, the main character, makes over the course of the first game, a conversion in the undergone personality, quite the "Discovery of Slowness" fit and is contrasted here in the second part by their former employer beautiful.

We played it in English, but also possess the German CD (unfortunately are separate versions, the English have specially ordered from UK). The German dubbing is decent and well audible, even when I finally the English prefer (although based on the amount of texts and dialogues can be possibly exhausting). Unfortunately, here in the second part, some of the German voices very annoying, but it was bearable.

Conclusion: Patient Point & Click Adventurer an absolute must. Strong story, feasible but beautiful and essentially logical puzzles (lighter than Myst, heavier than Dreamfall), beautiful graphics, compelling action, good soundtrack. For me at the moment to beat only by the first part, of a class was in my opinion but even better and in the puzzles, especially conclusive.

Two more tips to the conclusion: It's not notwenidg to store permanently, because you can not die first, and secondly, "forget" any objects, can you much later then still need. And who does not know the first part, should consider, to begin with, because it is technically not appear backward and thus preserve the sequence of the story remains (where you can start well with the Second, so it was with me).
