The device as AP was very simple:
- As described in the instructions to the PC / Mac an IP and subnet mask to assign (the best values in the manual assume)
- Completely disconnect PC / Mac from the LAN and only connect via cable to the Edimax
- The IP address of the Edimax web browser enter (IP address and dial See reverse side of Edimax)
- Select manual configuration
- Select General Setup / LAN Settings
- DHCP from
- IP address to match the existing router choose (if BSP has 192.168.1.xxx the Fritz box, then enter the Edimax 192.168.1.yyy the subnet mask set exactly how the router, usually 255.255.255.0..)
Select General Setup / WLAN settings -
- "Wireless modules": enable, "Mode": AP, "ESSID" name for the new Wi-Fi reinschreiben
- Select "Security Settings", select "WPA pre-shared key", "WPA2 (AES)" set, "Pre-Shared Key": Enter password for the new Wi-Fi
- Wait for the "Apply" button and restart Edimax
- Disconnect now from your PC / Mac, this reconnect to the LAN / WLAN and possibly the IP address (see Step 1) Reset to the old value, restart the PC / Mac
Connect and switch Edimax over a LAN port (not WAN port!) With the existing network -
Now the new WLAN should be visible! For this, the Edimax can naturally serve as a "power strip" (Switch) for cable connections.
