After a short useful life, serious shortcomings.

Because I often edit photos and graphics, had a high-resolution mouse ago with whom I can work with pixel accuracy. Of course Schurlos, so I have a freedom of movement. So I opted for a A4Tech X7 XG-760 mouse that was offered at the time of purchase only from the Amazon Marketplace dealers okluge at an acceptable price.

There were the first problems with the shipping. Once the delivery date specified maximum has been exceeded far and also a package tracking number did not exist. Understandable, since the mouse was sent by okluge Warensendung in a shabby cushion envelope that did not come with DHL, but handed me my postman. After the mouse was protected by the sturdy outer packing in which it was wrapped.

A German manual is not there. The 4-page printed Quick Guide is written only in English. On the enclosed mini-CD you will find 2 more detailed instructions. Unfortunately, even here no German is but one only again in English and the other in Russian. So who does not speak both languages, takes a little longer to make optimal use of the mouse and the functionality to discover her. After the approximately 2-year-old software is held to the mouse in German, so that explains to a certain training period all by itself. A software update to a newer version is not available on the manufacturer's site. For other mice A4Tech but already, only these software versions run limited or no for A4Tech X7 XL-760th But the 2-year-old software fulfills its purpose.

The installation of the mouse is very easy. Insert two AA batteries into the mouse. Insert receiver stick to a free USB port, ready. The mouse is Windows 7, Windows automatically detects, with me and install necessary driver. The mouse can then already use, but not comfortable. For the purpose of the software is installed from the CD, which also runs very quickly and easily. With the mouse editor, the software can most settings, as key assignment, resolution, etc., are set. All these settings are then stored in the built-in flash memory of the A4Tech X7 XL-760. Settings such as speed from the cursor, scroll, etc., just as you expect from Logitech or Mikrosoft mice, one searches in vain in the software. All these settings are made in the user interface of the Windows default mouse driver and stored on the PC, but not in the flash memory of the mouse. But everything works smoothly.

Only after I had made all the necessary settings, I was with the A4Tech X7 XL-760 more than satisfied. There was even more settings and display options, but I discovered a little later. If you click on the tray icon, the A4Tech software, a menu opens. Here you can confirm remaining battery level, the channel on which sends the mouse, the field strength reaching the USB receiver and many other things. In addition, the channel can be set manually on the to send the mouse. The transmit power can be switched in two stages. Thus, one can choose between a range of 15 or 20 meters. The setting ranges from15 meters but from perfect and will save energy. I operate the mouse on the minimal setting of 15 meters. Whether it reaches that I can not say, because in my apartment I could test only to 10 meters and that brings the mouse playing. All other settings I can not describe here because I do not use and they are likely to be probably only interesting for gamers.

At first I was fully satisfied with the A4Tech X7 XL-760. The pointer can be more precise than all my predecessors mice move and do not travel from. The only thing was bugged is the automatic shutdown, in order to save energy if you do not use the mouse for a few minutes. To reactivate the mouse mus you click one of the buttons. After the mouse is then turned back on, but can only move the mouse pointer. The left and right mouse buttons work on the desktop, after another click. While it sucks a bit, but you can live with it. Another advantage is that the mouse automatically turns itself off when the PC is shut down.

After 15 days of normal operation were suddenly empty the batteries. At first I believed in not fully charged batteries, which I had inserted during commissioning. So I put a new set of fully charged batteries. But even these were after about 15 days empty. I only use Eneloop batteries and this brand new that I had recently bought. If one now assumes that not the full capacity of Eneloops is used by the mouse, you are wrong. The Enel Loops only had a voltage of 0.8 volts, and were then only briefly discharged after 15 hour mode with the discharge function of my charger and determine remaining capacity of about 30 mAh. That's not normal that a mouse reinzieht about 2000 mAh within 15 days although they turn off automatically if it is not used. Only after I was assured by the second battery pack, which is the power consumption, X7 XG-760 much too high, I have complained at Amazon and wanted to send them back. Annoyed I pursued it only once, until I had the time to set up a further detailed letter of complaint. And I once tried a set of expensive Duracell batteries. The pulled the X7 XG-760 after 10 days empty. So I pursued it again with Enellop batteries. A few days ago then still showed an error, but is not related to the mouse pad, since I currently reusing my old pad. Sometimes the mouse pointer is in the middle at work for several seconds to a halt, regardless of where the mouse is on the pad. It seems as if the case briefly, the transmission signal completely exposed. Mouse and USB receiver are from each other only about 50 cm. It may also for the simple reason not be a coverage problem because this error then would have occurred already in the first 7 weeks.

Annoyed, I sent another letter to Amazon yesterday and okluge. This time with the warranty claim. Also rejected okluge, relying again on their 14 day money back guarantee. Now I sit firmly on a defective mouse and thus have a lot of money thrown out the window.
One lesson I have drawn out of it that I will avoid in future orders, the dealer okluge.

Without the shortcomings I have described, the X7 XG-760 would be a very good mouse.
Maybe I just caught a Monday device. But should it really be that the wish to the longevity of these mice can be left, which is what the ton. That would be the X7 XG-760 but even if the whole series al battery eaters should turn out.

Currently I use a Logitech M705 cars that I have bought from a friend, and am quite satisfied. When I will be proven with me sometime to buy a new M705.

I had given away the mouse to a friend. With him there are more recently problems with the left button. In only one click it sometimes does now double clicks. Bought about 10 months ago and now the keys Duch error almost unusable. Thanks to okluge that have this mouse then not wanted to take back when I complained after one month due to the above-mentioned shortcomings and their rolls the trouble with products to your customers.
