Breakfast in America (Remastered) (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The timeless classic from 1979 could not harm the last 31 years. Not the slightest. Since 1979, the pop music has developed through different phases. A band like Supertramp never gave it back. And an album like BREAKFAST no longer. For me, one of the top 10 BREAKFAST albums of all time.

1979 Music has been in the studio yet produced on a different way than today. There were real instruments, and it was paid significantly more on details that one often notice only after repeated listening. A CD was then a record, had two sides and a lot more attention than today's MP3 files that you can quickly stores in the player. 1979 we had a record to the record store - so in the next larger city. The purchased music (at that time still so 12-15 marks) you are then home, the black vinyl has carefully unsheathed, and during the first hearing could admire the 30 x 30 cm cover and read the texts. A beautiful ritual.
Ie: people could consume BREAKFAST time in this way, a somewhat idealized view of the music will still have. For this I also belong. Nevertheless BREAKFAST is among many other productions of this period (for example, the debut of Christopher Cross) a document for which quality could be reached in the studio 30 years ago.

At this edition BREAKFAST:

Deluxe editions of pop classics are a great thing for the listener who likes to relive his LP treasures of the past again. There are very good editions (STARS of Simply Red, the album of Abba), where other artists can orient. Sound, bonus material and packaging are the key points:

Sound:
BREAKFAST was as early as 1979 on vinyl, a sensation that has been topped only by the out-MFSL Edition. According Cover was this 2010 Now new Remastert again. Good: background noise (such as on the MFSL version) is as good as gone, and it sounds like an excellent work, but for the remaster sounds almost a little sterile. However, if only my own point of view, am pleased with posts found. In any case: the remaster sounds worse than the original in any way.

Bonus:
The second CD contains previously unreleased live recordings: on the one hand, the title plan, which did not make it for lack of space on PARIS ("Give A litte bit"), on the other hand are more title of that tour included. Unfortunately, I find the live version of "Child of Vision" is not well managed. The Tramps playing a touch too fast, and Rogers sole song does not come across well - and not just sounds. Overall, would here should be more space for demo versions or songs that it might not make it onto the album. On stage offer Supertramp few surprises - hence the live version is not necessarily an asset, it could have been even a little more.

Packing:
The additional images of the photo sessions of the BREAKFAST production are original. The booklet provides a lot of information about the history of the album. Unfortunately not from the hand of the Tramps. Would it not have been a simple, if the gentlemen (meinentwegen also separated) write a few lines about it? It is a text that was zusammenrecherchiert essentially of puzzle pieces of Interwiews and newspaper articles of recent years. The lyrics and credits are all available.

Conclusion:
Music: *****
