The real battle Claude Allegre is the refusal of the decrease. There will be no solutions to environmental problems by supporting such theses, if only because no one will ever be able to prevent India, China, Latin America to grow! But it must be growth that saves energy and water. Water (and saving the oceans, essential for climate cycle) is the biggest fight of Claude Allegre. He believes that this is really what control water has priority. His defense of GMOs (an important passage from the book) is not unconnected with the issue of water. Claude Allegre shoots red ball on José Bové, guilty to take a considerable delay to French agriculture (other countries already producing more than significant grain GMOs). For energy, everyone knows the pro-nuclear position Claude Allegre.
The book is not meant to be consensual but to try to properly hiearchiser problems and reach realistic solutions. It is regrettable that the work of Claude Allegre is attacked by people who have obviously not read his works (or are not otherwise expressly understand!).
