My criteria were / are: scanning, faxing, LAN and / or WLAN, printing on CD / DVDs, simple design, quieter and faster operation, inkjet (due to the emissions of laser printers)
Now I had tried it first with the "Canon Pixma MG6350". This is so much more expensive than the Brother, can also even less. The software and driver for Canon did not convince me. A label for a CD was only very complicated and restricted. Absolute KO criteria are the very long lead time will be printed up at all, the relatively high volume of the device as well as the piano lacquer, which was extremely prone to scratches and fingerprints at Canon.
Alternatives with my criteria, there are few. Epson there is a Geät, unfortunately also with cheap piano lacquer.
Then I finally came across this Brother here. And what can I say, it meets all my criteria and makes this a very good figure. In addition, he is the best of all devices that I found for almost 140.
+ Processing is neat, the surface is made of matte black plastic. Although it is more appropriate, but this also just insensitive and robust.
+ The mechanism works quietly and without rattling, clattering, squeaking, etc. as it is known by many cheap printers
+ The touch panel is designed very dezenzt and works taddellos
+ Both the driver and the firmware of the device are very good.
Tip: Download to the very good side support of Brother directly the latest driver. In addition, there is also a current firmware version
+ Printing takes place quickly after completing the job. There is no long calibration time until the machine begins to print
+ Print speed is good
+ Included additional programs for creating CD / DVD labels to CD
+ LAN / WLAN settings well and without problems
+ Print quality on printable CDs / DVDs very well
+ Very compact
+/- The print quality on paper is fine (rather designed office-heavy). For photo prints, there are certainly better equipment. The colors might also something brilliant / strong his (possibly you can make improvements in the settings still - quality also depends on paper).
I use the printer as a network printer currently via LAN or WLAN. It works under Windows 7 (64bit) and Windows 8.1 (64 bit) clients properly. Under Windows 8.1 you do not even install the driver, this is namely automatically detected and installed. Who wants to use the full functionality, of course need to install the full driver and software package.
Also very good: you can all the utilities quickly and easily remove it from the startup. In addition, the software package seems appropriate and not overloaded (as with almost all other manufacturers).
To scan, I can not tell you much (because not ausgibig tested). The fax I use not (yet).
My Conclusion:
Exactly what I was looking device. Product Support Brother is also (can be updated easily firmware support site very clear and well strukuriert) praiseworthy. The device itself also leaves nothing to be desired.
The whole then at a competitive price.
From me there for a full purchase recommendation!
