My old HP PSC1350 dropped me after 6 YEARS !! of faithful service and I have long hesitated on her replacement. I do a lot of office and some photos and I finally opted for the Canon MP640 primarily for its automatic duplex and photos 10x15sans margin. The wi-fi was not paramount for me, but ultimately it's a plus that allows installing the machine anywhere. The printer installation is a bit long, but following the manual well, no problem. I got a little lost when installing wi-fi, before realizing that it was enough to put the Livebox in combination so that the printer is recognized immediately in the network, xp or windows 7 (I have not tested with Vista) Once the printer is installed, everything works very well and is very fast, super silent, even without activating the silent mode. The photos, even on a brand without photo paper are superb, by against the texts do not have that depth of black that I was used to with my old HP. I would therefore be tempted to put 5 stars for this product, but ... because there is a but! since its installation on August 4, I printed fifty announcement baptism for my granddaughter (in color of course) some pictures, a few letters and surprise! CARTRIDGES already almost empty !! (Previously I was changing cartridges about 2 times a year with heavy use) I sought explanations on the internet, and after the article in "digital" must be left in standby to save printer cartridges !! I am very surprised and concerned above all for the future, because given my use if I have to change cartridges every month, the purchase price of this printer will be significantly less interesting ... I advise those who buy this printer, to provide immediately a pack of cartridges in reserve because their life seems very short! I do not know if this is the case with other printers, but I'm a little disappointed in this respect there. Meanwhile, I leave the printer on standby day and night, (it seems that it consumes almost nothing) and I will see in a few months the status of my ink consumption.
