The remake of Resident Evil leaves no wish unfulfilled. Was taken emerged at a time when games and whole series is not yet out of the misguided incentive More Action better, a remake came out, that's still one of the best of its kind to date. The original has been completely redesigned to expand new areas and features and now in the remastered edition graphically as much as possible up to date brought that it may be even more than seen today. The pre-rendered backgrounds thank. Who does not go to the heart when one sneaks through conceited corridors, lightning illuminates the scene and one perceives a shuffle in the distance already low, undead. Although rigid but for detailed perspectives prevent an individual view of chamber and hall, but they increase the tension and the graphical value enormously. In addition, meaningful improvements such as single-purpose defense objects and new sections that are more highlight in my eyes, as you would expect.
|| || Gameplay
The starting point is, as so often two figures, from which you can freely choose at the beginning, Chris and Jill. They differ slightly in their abilities (eg Jill can lockpicking, Chris has the necessary key found) and their inventory extent why Chris but can carry with them less than the petite Jill remains for me still a mystery. Was therefore recommended the lady beginners. Who Resident Evil then is still too difficult, can choose between three different levels of difficulty to decide which make the game either for a walk or make a front one way or another obstacle: resistance of the enemy, Item-rate and their own strength, bites wegzustecken eg Depending on how you have decided to wander through the underlying mansion and adjacent facilities, examined the original key, combinable objects and all sorts Todbringer and healing herbs / sprays. Always something can be combined or examined. Time there is a medallion in a book, sometimes reinforced to a green herb with a Red. All relatively intuitive and tradable. A benefit for some who want to tinker away from headshots and (less omnipresent) Action something. No real crafting clear. But after all, a thoroughly enjoyable gaming experience that sometimes requires a slightly different perception, as always turn toadies only the nearest enemy in the dozen effectively. Plus, there's the odd puzzle that is always somewhere between simple and Sap. Never really hard, but after all, not an insult of their own perception. In the future, please back it more.
|| Technology ||
The Gamecube original looked at the time of already great. Detailed pre-rendered backgrounds and hochpolygonale for that time figures, which many in real-time computed 3D games looked old. But it is precisely this point presented the development team before a small problem. The game saw (and sees) although very nice (especially in HD, even if it is no longer likely to include the graphical Elite today), but the backgrounds were just only in a 4: 3 format before. So what to do in a time in which everyone has available a wide flat screen in the room and make old television formats one before unfinished facts? Left and right black bars? An uneaten face, ie in the wide-drawn characters? No option. Hence the nice trick that gently resonates the image detail in the HD version, depending how to move in the complete picture. The original image is never actually completely visible (but to explore completely), but it obtained a nice way plastic effect. Alternatively, however, can be adjusted and the original format. This is also the way in the control of the case. Purists access to the original tank control, career changers to adapted to today's standards analog control. Characters can be controlled so direct and you do not go the way on the vertical axis of rotation. Very laudable the whole.
|| || Japanese Version
As was planned in Germany and generally the western climes no retail version (read Blu Ray in a Box) / is, and I wanted to grab consequently almost for digital purchase I was more surprised to discover this version offered here. It is to the original Japanese Biohazard HD Remaster with all sorts of Japanese writing times on the cover, on the back and the BD-back (up to HD a layman could not imagine to what game it is in this one, if it would on the shelf). Even the two inlays and the back of the cover are illegible for untrained eyes. All the more astonishing: The game is in GERMAN factory. English language German subtitles should only set the menu, but automatically arises precisely as it was then. The game allows for the German Fan So nothing to be desired. Fans, collectors and those who want to be access to, any other play digital sample. The only downside that I experienced with my order (and expected) to The offered price plus shipping still joined a small customs duty amounting to almost 7 now. But was handled quite comfortably at the front door. So overall you pay more than double of what you would pay regularly in German (digital) trade, but you get for the Box for shelf. And that has just the game here deserves more than deserved.
|| || Conclusion
The remake in HD is the right move. Away from the action roller coaster ride, the exciting IT Gruselkabinett. Puzzles instead of permanent rattle of machine gun. An old, very good game in a contemporary garb. I hope the series is a back to basics granted in the future. Next (most likely) RE Zero in HD to ignite it with a RE2 remake in HD the bomb. It would also be a dream, if at least one real seventh part on this path (or revisiting) would. The series takes a simple second dreadful spring. Not that the series eventually bleeds so as half the Bravo team? I hope, this is not Chris Blood?
|| Addendum due to a relatively low rating of the German press || * NEW *
Justify an older, then both benevolent and still inspiring captured gameplay today a rating far beyond mandatory Stocks-limits? In my opinion: no.
Clear, nostalgic will gladly assumed the overall quality from today's perspective to transfigure (with the proverbial rose-colored glasses). Nevertheless, career changers had recommended the game, which the partially strained, formulaic handling franchise XY are tired already. Such games can be fun, no question. And in many cases are also very good. Yet it is precisely for this genre of survival horror, laudable, if we cling to established frameworks: Inventory Management, the staid approach, save manually. Just such a horror title must or should feel something frickeliger, every advance should are arrived laboriously. Head out continuous fire on titles or ones that can be played comfortably way there to be sufficient today. Many even resemble each other so much that just as an older principle has earned his proverbial resurrection from the dead. And in times of crowdfunding and Co, where many former Games sizes ancient works to help new look for a return to old strengths is not wrong. In my eyes, a signal in Resident Evil is just as important as it always has further from its starting position and definitely should be more Survival again, than anything else. It is important that games are not simple but the experience in itself is more intense.
Therefore, just the HD remaster of a remake of 2002 (original 1996), the success should be brought, lest another, more stubborn-casualised RE titles are thrown on the market. Nevertheless: A rating of 68%, the equivalent of 7/10, converted 4 of 5 stars is still pretty good, and anything but desatrös (albeit one of the lowest ratings in the world and therefore under section;)). Do not be swayed and just only the 20 output as needed for the digital version. If at the present time not much more than a visit to the cinema, including Coke and popcorn. You will not regret it. Also for the right signal gen developers and authors, thus not become even more formerly portly title to Action rollercoasters.
Have fun playing. :)
