The price battle ensures a massive spread of cheap IDs as "MBI 01RG40", no matter what brand you buy, anywhere one is safe from these discs. CMC has recently blossomed, but quality costs money and to be able to undercut the prices of the competition, the well-known brand manufacturers are increasingly inadequate to supply goods.
If I knew how, I guarantee to good, reliable blanks as Mitsubishi, SONY original products (SONY16D1) or had just come RITEK, I would strike immediately. The price is for online shopping but far not an indicator, because many traders buy their cheap blanks and peddle expensive. If the purchase is made only once, is the buyer of Gelackmeierte and can no longer return its opened package. I think it is outrageous that brand producers such as Sony or TDK ruining their once good reputation for purchased products below average quality, just to drive up short-term returns.
The single slices mid-priced, to the best of my knowledge you can rely on yet, are Fuji blanks. Which are manufactured in Taiwan, where, incidentally, the impeccable quality Verbatim blanks of Mitsubishi come (Verbatim can also grab inferior blanks in its spindles, so beware of predatory pricing). Taiwan is not a low-wage country and is similar to Germany for quality workmanship and strict quality control. Verbatim provides Taiwan blanks mainly on cash-ready customers with intensive customer contact, the Billigheimer get Indian and Chinese brands (the latter are sometimes good, sometimes bad).
Some Chinese CMC batches (Platinum, Verbatim etc.) were virtually error-free and provided absolutely excellent test results as they are otherwise known only from the expensive Taiyo Yuden-discs, others were error-littered, but still well within the permissible norm.
Fuji sells as far as I know the vast majority (or exception) Taiwanese Ritek blanks and is therefore priced slightly more than the other vendors. But that's fine; Cheap products produce a lot of waste and are seen more expensive than reliable blanks, apart from Geräteverschleiss times. Nevertheless, Fuji blanks not 1A, especially in DVD + R discs are in the acceptable range striking is heaping error clusters, but they are harmless and do not interfere with playback.
In the higher price segment can be found on the one hand Taiyo Yuden-blanks, which have recently been marketed increasingly under the umbrella brand JVC enjoy ("JVC Taiyo Yuden") and an excellent reputation. High at least as good, the trade under the name "DataLifePlus" Verbatim spindles, which are also suitable for professional use. They are priced to conventional Verbatim blanks, but through numerous quality checks, without exception are made from high quality materials and come only from the best factories in Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
