The step back to a USB2.0 drive brought the desired result and I can now the recording feature of my new TV set use without constantly from one display to be annoyed that a new USB HDD has been detected. With USB3.0 the new TV is not clear. The drive is nice and flat and fits still hanging behind the TV with behind the wall mount.
